Brand Story
We Spent Seven Years Learning to Truly Understand Beetroot
At first, we just wanted to do it right. Back then, we were working with beetroot as an ingredient.
Finding the raw material and delivering it to customers seemed simple enough. But once we started, we realized how many things behind a bag of beetroot powder were beyond our control.
The powder could clump. The color could change. The quality could vary from batch to batch.
When something went wrong, all we seemed to do was look for another supplier.
Then we realized that if we kept solving problems at the very end, we would never solve them at the source.
So we decided to go further.
If we couldn't find beetroot powder we truly trusted, we would start with the beet itself.
From a Bag of Powder Back to a Beetroot
It wasn't as simple as making a decision. We started looking at beetroot all over again.
We compared growing regions across Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Xuzhou, Shandong, and beyond. We brought fresh beetroot from different regions back for testing. We also began looking at beetroot cultivation overseas, searching for a direction we could build on for the long term.
Eventually, we turned our attention to Qinghai.
It wasn't our first answer. It became our choice after repeated comparisons and testing.
The high-altitude environment, sunlight, temperature variation, soil, and water resources all showed potential.
So we began working closer to where the beetroot actually begins.
From selecting seeds to working with the growing base, from the first sprout to harvest, we started to understand something important:
The quality of an ingredient doesn't begin in a processing plant. It begins in the soil.
Growing It Was Only the Beginning
Once we started doing things ourselves, we realized that beetroot was far more complicated than we had imagined.
We once tried making beetroot juice powder ourselves. Fresh beetroot arrived at the factory, and during processing, red juice flowed ever ywhere. The whole place turned red.
When the powder finally came out, we were excited. Then we opened it.It had turned yellow.
That was when we really started to understand beetroot.
We learned that its natural pigments can be affected by processing conditions such as temperature. From fresh beetroot to finished powder, every step can change the final result.
Growing our own beetroot didn't mean the problems were over. The real work had just begun.
So we started learning, step by step: cultivation, processing, stability, and application.
And with every moment of realizing, We didn't understand this yet, we came a little closer to understanding beetroot.
The More We Understood Beetroot, the More We Wanted to Know Its Value
Once we stopped looking at beetroot simply as an ingredient, we began asking a deeper question:
”What makes beetroot worth studying and developing for the long term?“
As our research went deeper, we began paying more attention to nitrate.
It became an increasingly important part of how we understood beetroot, researched it, and developed products.
And that is where the name Nitribeet found its meaning.
Nitribeet = Nitrate + Beet.
Beet is where we started. Nitrate is one of the directions we discovered as we went deeper.
So Nitribeet wasn't simply a name created for a brand. It is a reflection of the path we have taken.
We started with Beet. We went deeper through Nitrate.
Then We Started to Rethink What It Means to “Do It Right”
But we soon realized that understanding the ingredient wasn't enough.Because a product doesn't ultimately face a test report.
It faces a real person. Will they accept the taste? Is it easy to use? Will they want to use it every day?We hadn't truly understood these questions before.
When we started building our own brand again, we decided to do things differently:
“Listen first. Then decide what the product should become.”
We began paying closer attention to consumer feedback, especially the comments that weren't easy to hear.
Because a negative review can sometimes tell us more than a simple “I love it.”
It shows us where the product still needs work.
Some people didn't like beetroot's natural flavor, so we studied the sensory experience.
Some found traditional packaging inconvenient, so we reconsidered the product format.
Others wanted products that fit more naturally into everyday life, so we went back to the way they were used and redesigned from there.
Over time, we came to understand:
“Real product innovation isn't just about making the ingredient better. It's about making it something people want to use and keep using.”
That was the real change as we moved from being an ingredient supplier to building our own brand.
Seven Years Later, We Are Still Learning to Understand Beetroot
Looking back, our journey did not begin with a grand master plan. We had no idea where this path would lead at the start.
We simply took one step forward each time we encountered a problem.
Unstable raw materials? Go back to the source. Unable to source reliable ingredients? Grow our own. Unsure about processing? Learn from scratch. Uncover new potential? Keep researching. Product pain points emerge?
Listen to users. Again and again.
Seven years later, we still cannot claim we fully understand beets.
We know that truly understanding an ingredient requires more than time. It demands continuous hands-on work, validation and listening.
Yet these seven years have clarified why we keep going: we have never stopped striving to make it better.
At first, we only wanted to make good beets. Over time, we learned to understand the land, raw materials, manufacturing processes, products and users.
Today’s Nitribeet grew from this persistence. Born from the beet, exploring deeper through nitrate.
Seven years, and we are only just starting to truly understand beets.
Moving forward, we want to keep hearing from you. We want to know what you really need, and what you think we can improve.
We will carry your feedback back into product development, optimising little by little, iteration after iteration.
We believe great products are never perfected in one attempt. They mature gradually through listening and continuous improvement. And we will keep moving forward.
